Meet "Murphy"

Things have been a little crazy this week. The beginning of the week was fine and relaxing, even a little on the boring side. But toward the end of the week I woke up to find my car missing, something we have been expecting for about 6 months. Turns out the guys who re-possessed my car stole my ipod, ipod transmitter, and GPS unit right out of my dashboard. And since there was no way to know who it was exactly, I probably won't get them back. They let me get everything else out of my car, but I cannot express how infuriated I was to find those 3 things missing--which puts me out about $500. So that was a bit annoying. But come to find out, we went to a car dealer today who could actually approve me on my own, and I ended up with a 2005 black Honda Civic. NO power windows or locks, and no cruise control...but man I cannot express to you how much I love driving this car. Cruise control can come later if I decide to put it in. It drives like a dream, and only has 59,000 miles on it. I'm in love.
I'm big into naming inanimate objects, and was convinced that the next car I bought would be named Monty. As soon as I brought it home, looked at it, cleaned it up a little bit, and put all of my stuff in it, the right name just popped into my head..."Murphy." It just fit so well.

So here it is; meet, Murphy. :)

With My Freeze Ray...

As most of you probably don't know, Saturday was the release of the movie Twilight. After reading all 4 books in a week and a half long period, the movie deffinatly grew on me. I ended up watching it twice yesterday, and It was incredibly fun! I had a few friends come over, and we had a great time :). We made home-made popcorn, red punch, and ate gushers and pizza. It was fun, and I can't wait to watch it again tomorrow with Brian's mom. Funny enough, I lent her the first book begging her to read it because I know how much she would love it. Since she's a big reader, and she was going on a trip, I figured it might be a good time to get her into the series. Sure enough, she called me a few days later telling me she was almost finished with the first book and would have to buy the rest of the series. haha! victory! :) And actually, she ended up buying the whole series and will probably be finished by today! This is impressive, cuz it took me a week and a half to read the series, and she's only going on 5 or 6 days I think. so props.

Anyway, I've been having a great week so far. I've been spending most of my time by myself, which has been nice. I cleaned up the entire house yesterday, and organized my 306 movie dvd collection. Since I've had a few additions latly, it was time. I'm a little movie obsessed....but only a little. ;) Movies have been my new favorite past time. One of my favorite buys so far this year was deffinatly Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. I cannot tell you how much fun this is to watch! I get the music stuck in my head on the daily. It's a good time. You can actually watch all of it through that link if you want.

Anyway, other than that things have been good. Having nothing to do this week has paid off. It's nice just stickin around the house and watching movies and what not.
Taking off work was a good choice. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about my next quarter in school. I'm sure it will be fun having 2 studio classes, but it's going to also be A LOT of work. man. Painting and Advanced Vis Com. Blehk.

Oh I probably forgot to mention that my roommate Jessica and her boyfriend Jimmy got a puppy last week (Bella). She is ADORABLE...but an absolute brat. LOL But we love her :). She kinda goes back and forth between houses, since we aren't supposed to have another dog here. Abbey is quite taken by her. It's amusing to watch her chase Bella around when she gets hyper. But yes, here are a few pictures of the two. :)

Well, noon is creeping up on me, which means Brian will be home for lunch soon. (He lives next door to me, for any of you who don't know.)So I'm going to cook up some lunch, and probably throw in a movie. I think tofu and green beans sounds good. :)

Alisha: C-

Today has been a great day. I had an absolute blast last night with all of my friends, and got my paper done to boot. We watched boondock saints (kind of) and just joked around and had a great time. I always love having people over at my house, especially after such an absence of life inside of it. I woke up a little early and went over to my art building to print off my paper (since my printer is still out of ink). When I got there, I remembered that my computer art professor had already graded my portoflio, and they were sitting in the cmputer lab. I went to grab it as I left, and curiously opened it up to check my grade. I was optomistic, since he and I were on good terms, and he really seemed to enjoy my artwork. I was immediatly shocked when I opened up my portfolio to see this little sheet of paper taped to the inside:

a C-!! WHAT?? I almost started flipping out when I realized there was a piece of paper the same size underneath. This one, said:

So really...I got an A. I give mad props to Steven Walker for doing this. This was the icing on the cake of a great class. Thanks Professor Walker :).
So after that little diddy, I went on to take my final in my psychology class. This professor is one of the best I've ever had, and the class has been very informitive and fun. I won't be specific, but for those of you who want a hint, the subject matter that this class is based around isn't exactly offered everywhere; it's a bit taboo. So anyway, we talked him into letting us take our last quiz in small groups, and I'm almost positive I aced it. Another lovely topping on a great class :).
As for earth science; good ridance. ....yuck.
So I picked Rebecca up from work, since her car is currently out of order, and she got me delicious O' Charleys chicken strips in return. YUMM-MMEE.
So now I'm home, and getting ready to go with Brian to meet with Maureen from Late 2 a Tea. She offers espresso/tea bar catering, and we are looking into hiring her for the wedding reception. She is very reasonably priced, and we are hoping that her services will fit into our budget.
As for tomorrow, I will be going into work at 10am, and working until 2 or 3pm. I will hopefully then be going to help Bizzy find some ideas for her wedding, which is in August. That's all I've got for now! :)

Zombie Mode Alert

So. Today was the first day of exams. YUCK! I spent so much time studying and doing homework over the weekend that when I woke up today, I felt incredibly dead. I could barely drive to class to drop off my artwork for my first exam it was so bad. By the time I got back home I put in Princess Bride (deffinatly a comfort movie) and fell asleep. I woke up again around 11am, made brunch for my roommate Jessica and Brian (who came home for lunch) and just hung out and studied for my next exam. Brunch was fantastic though...Waffles made from Red Mill Pancake/Waffle Mix (The BEST mix ever!) I gaurauntee you...these things will never burn. They are amazing. And low in fat and calories :). I also have a new obsession with smashed bannanas on top of waffles and pancakes instead of syrup. yummmeee...

So anyway, I eventually went to my next exam (Earth Science) and got through that. Then I came home and designed some baby shower invitations for Bizzy. That was fun :). They turned out pretty nice too, as you can see.

Jessica and I took Abbey to the dog park yesterday, and she has been acting dead ever since. She ran so much that she tore up her back paw pads pretty bad. She's been layin around the house without moving much the past few days. Which is kinda nice, considering all of the studying I have to do. She had a blast :)

I've been staying up with working out and eating well too. Jessica introduced me to a free website that helps you keep track of and achieve your fitness goals. It felt so good to see that I was only 12 lbs from my goal weight, and it said I could meet that in 3 or 4 weeks :). It's called http://www.myfitnesspal.com/. It's FABULOUS. I also recently discovered that I can't have one without the other in my life....for instance, if I stop working out (because of fatigue or sickness, etc) I stop eating healthy. Also the other way around. So I'm pretty dedicated this time. :)

Anyway, I work tomorrow, but other than that I am deffinatly looking to celebrate St. Patties day with my friends. :) Pretty excited about that.

That's the extent of my update tonight!

Jumping back on the bandwagon >>------>

So here I am again. Deciding to start up a blog. It seems I always felt the need to write things down at tough points in my life, so I made a conscious decision to start writing at one of the most important and happy times of my life so far. This will be a little different for me, writing about everyday things instead of complaints. But I've recently done a lot of self-discovery and have quit wallowing in self-pity all the time. It's about time to be telling everyone about the good things in my life.

As a basic background, I am marrying my absolute match, best friend, and closest partner-in-crime in September. Not to mention he's the man I love very much, and have no doubt that I will for the rest of my life. I cannot wait to become his wife, and am very excited for this change in my life.

I have also recently made a great deal of girl-friends, which is practically unheard of from me. I currently have about 7 or 8 friends (girls ALONE) who I feel very close to, and have a hard time not picturing in my future somehow. I wouldn't trade any of them for ANYTHING and I am so thankful for all of them!

This may, I will have been on my own for an entire year. As crazy as it seems to look back, I can't imagine having it any other way. I live next door to the love of my life, and all of my closest friends. I also live with two of the most amazing girls I have ever met, and used to live with another of my best friends. She is also getting married in August, and having a baby boy named Elijah in May! Though we miss living with her, she stays quite close to all of us, and we never want to get rid of her!

I have a wonderful dog named Abbey and a crazy cat named Cheebs. They keep me entertained most of the time. My old cat B.B. went to my roommate Rebecca, who I know will love her completely after I leave.

I am a giant movie buff, and have recently become even MORE of one because of my lack of horseback riding. Since I temporarily gave up horses, I needed a replacement. I love all kinds of movies, and if I haven't seen a movie(though that is rare!), I will be more than willing to watch it . I also absolutely love photography and everything about Graphic Design. I am a Christian, and actually work as a graphic designer for my church. I couldn't ask for a better job, or better people to work with. I have a heightened appreciation for art, and love everything about it. I am finishing up my junior year of college, and cannot wait to get out into the world! I also love cooking, and have a general knack for making things out of nothing. I love vegetables and fruit, and could probably become a vegetarian if I really wanted to. I lead a generally healthy lifestyle, and absolutely love yoga. I try to stay incredibly open minded, and have a tendency to argue both sides of a point just to present the other option (even if I don't believe it!). I also have a tendency to become frustrated with people who aren't open-minded, and try my best to show them other points of view. I love children and want at least one when Brian and I reach a stable point in our marriage (after he is done with school).

That's basically it to catch everyone up. I'll be writing as things happen. :)
